Habits on Facebook Reveals Self-Assessment

How often do you change the status or upload photos on Facebook? This could describe how your personality. According to research by psychologists from the University of Buffalo, United States, women who think other people-related performance appraisal tends to often change your profile picture on Facebook.

According to the researchers, those who trust him based on public-contingency basis (defined as the approval of others, related to physical appearance and other things that are competition) are more frequent sharing photos online.
 
The results showed that women identified more powerful image and appearance. They use Facebook as a way to compete to get their attention.

"This shows the different attitudes men and women resulting from cultural focus on female appearance," said Michael A. Stefanone, PhD., one researcher was quoted as saying of buffalo.edu.

This study aimed to investigate the variables that explain online behavior, specifically on social networking sites. The team look at the amount of time spent in managing the profile subject, the number of photos posted, the size of online networks and how they choose friends.

The study involved 311 respondents who averaged 23.3 years old. As many as 49.8 percent of respondents were female. They were asked to fill out questionnaires related to value themselves and typical behavior on Facebook.
